During The School Year!

Solar Stage Children's Theatre is pleased to present the following shows for school age children for our 2010 - 2011 season. Each presentation includes a Teacher's 'Resource & Ideas' Booklet that is tailor-designed for each different play! A short question and answer period is generally held after each show with the exceptions of our Christmas time presentations and March Break shows. Following you will find information on each of the shows and a list of the dates and times each one is available.

Ticket Prices:

For fewer than 60 children: $9/student (includes GST)
For more than 60 children: $8/student (includes GST)

We are happy to offer some complimentary adult tickets to your chaperones! Ask us for details upon booking.

Although we normally invite schools to attend in our professional theatre, there is the option of touring to your school! We charge a flat rate of $800 for one performance. If you are booking two performances at your school on the same day, the cost is $1400 for the two shows.

A deposit is required at least 1 month in advance of the performance.The balance of your payment is due when you arrive at the theatre and is based on the number of students that are in actual attendance.

2011 Summer Show: The Three Little Pigs
(Musical Play) Ages 3 - 10
Musical adaptation by Zenon Skrzypczyk
Music by Martyn Skrzypczyk

This interactive musical production tells the traditional English story of the three little pigs who have very different notions on how to build their homes. The wolf also has his own notions, especially for little pigs. Your children will have fun watching and participating in this comic and musical show!

The Ugly Duckling

Our colourful, music-filled production, adapted from Hans Christian Anderson, tells the story of the ugly duckling who doesn’t fit in. Everybody has a place in our world and the duckling grows up to discover that perseverance and courage can lead to the role that she was made for.

Thumbelina

Our interactive musical version, adapted from Hans Christian Anderson, presents the adventures of Thumbelina, the tiny being who was found in a flower. On her journey to be accepted, the tiny Thumbelina has comic adventures and challenging obstacles before she is finally able to ‘fit in’.

Ali Baba

Our musical version of the traditional story from One Thousand and One Nights, takes you into the world of ‘Open Sesame’ and the Magic Cave. Will Ali Baba escape poverty and will he escape thieves who guard the cave filled with riches? Have fun with them as they all sing and dance to a happy ending.

Sleeping Beauty

Our musical version of the Charles Perrault classic will enthrall you with its beautiful music and wonderful performances. Will Sleeping Beauty escape the Evil Queen’s spell? Visit us to share in presentation of this timeless tale. With tuneful songs, spirited dancing, and interactive fun, this will be a great show for the holiday season.

The Emperor’s New Clothes

This humourous and theme-filled tale by Hans Christian Anderson is adapted and presented with music and fun by our talented Solar Stage actors.

Memorable Munsch

We bring back our traditional and very popular series of Munsch stories done as one play. Enjoy our new collection, Put Me in a Book, Alligator Baby, Just One Goal and Andrew’s Loose Tooth, presented in skillful and comic Solar Stage fashion. Your children love to read Munsch! They’ll be entranced by the play!

Beauty and The Beast

Rapunzel

In this musical version of the traditional story by the Brothers Grimm, we meet Jacob and Mary who are poor and childless. Their hunger forces them to take vegetables from Gothel’s garden. As punishment, Gothel takes Jacob and Mary’s first born child, Rapunzel, and locks her in a tower. Come and enjoy the music and see whether Rapunzel can be freed and return to her family.
